I’m thinking of picking up Haskell in my spare time, I’ve got some experience with hobby programming I toyed with Ruby for a year, and did a few months of Pascal back in college but haven’t had much time or energy to play around with programming for a while but I’d like to start tossing it around again.
Haskell seems like a really interesting language, my second choice would be Lua and perhaps if Haskell doesnt work out I’ll give that a shot, but I think I’ll try Haskell first and see how it fits.
This seems to be the place to start learning Haskell if you’re thinking of trying it yourself.
Why Haskell? Mainly because its Functional, which is a bit of a different take on programming compared to most languages out there. There is of course compelling reasons to learn or not to learn any language but the Functional aspect of Haskell is what caught my interest.
